No change and the same order at the top of the Girls League after latest round of matches at PowerLeague, Aston with Short Heath and Rosary locked at the summit separated only by goal difference.
And it was those two protagonists who clashed in their opening fixture. Rosary started brighter and found themselves two-nil up before Short Heath woke up and quickly levelled the count. Rosary rode their luck as Heath hit both posts but the Rosarians held on for a valuable point. Heath then went on to beat Colebourne, 2-0, Abbey 3-0 and SS Peter and Paul, 5-1 whilst Rosary also beat SSPP, this time by three goals to nil.
Abbey were assisted by walkover wins vs Court Farm and St Bernadette’s and ditto Timberley, vs Lea Forest and Mapledene. The Timbers though helped themselves with consecutive 3-0 victories over Paget and Colebourne.
So, going into the final games of the Girls League on 9th April, Short Heath lead the way on 22 points and though Rosary have the same, Heath possess a 4 goal better difference. Abbey lie third, just a solitary point back and Timberley remain in the title race as they are just four points adrift of the leaders. All to play for in a fortnight’s time!
