Under a blazing spring sun and in the splendour of the Dene Arena, Mapledene and Lyndon Green met on Tuesday afternoon, both with eyes firmly fixed on that final play-off spot.
Both knew that a win for either would inflict major damage on the other's third-place aspirations. In a game of high quality - not surprising given the two teams involved - it was Lyndon Green who left Cranes Park with the spoils after a 4-1 victory.
That win was Lyndon Green's final game of the season and they currently sit in third place having accrued 32 points from their 16 games. Mapledene, eight points adrift, now know that they will have to win all of their three remaining games to overtake Green and nab that third spot. Dene will be optimistic with games at the Arena next week versus Colebourne and Rosary but their final game of the season on 29th April, will come against Paget who in all likelihood, will need to win that game to clinch the La Liga title and thus avoid a play-off eliminator - it could be a blockbusting end to a belting La Liga season!
