Girls League Fixtures Posted!

League kicks-off on 8th November. Timberley begin title defence against Lea Forest.

The girls league is back and gets underway on Wednesday 8th November. The league has a new format and look to it, with teams divided into two groups, A and B - each will play nine group games with the top four in either group, proceeding to a play-off finals evening in April.
Reigning champions Timberley are in Group B, and commence their pursuit of a second, consecutive title against Lea Forest; the champions will also come face to face with last season's runners-up, Highfield, on the same evening.
A champion for this season though is hard to call. Erdington and Saltley's girls district team - which has already captured silverware this term - sparkles with talented players from across the many competing schools which will make the league even more competitive.
Both Harper Bell and Rosary will fancy their chances of progressing out of Group A but with unknown quantities in Short Heath, Erdington Hall, E-ACT Nechells and Blakenhale among serial campaigners Alston, Bernies, Brookfields and Colebourne, neither can take anything for granted.
Group B is even harder to call. Timberley have lost the majority of their outstanding squad from last season but still possess enough quality to retain their title. Highfield, traditionally strong in girls competitions, will look to go one better than last season, while Lea Forest, who finished third last term, will want to travel a little further this year. Audley will always give anyone a game and cannot be underestimated and neither can Paget, Parkfield and The Oval, who will all to do more than just making up the numbers. All will have to contend with newcomers Mapledene, St Matthew's and Brownmead, in what should be a hotly contested division.
Whose title? Your guess is as good as mine! So, here's to a great girls league season and good luck to all involved.

Where next?

Hale Hale! Blaken go Top! Honours even on night of draws at Blakenhale but hosts top league. Oval go 'nap' against Highfield.
Mead Maintain 100% Record! Brownmead go second after 6 point trawl.
