The La Liga division was always going to provide humdingers of games with big hitters like Abbey, Paget, Short Heath, St Thomas More and Lyndon Green all included and Tuesday evening at Holly Lane provided more evidence to back this up.
Abbey, Paget and STM all came face-to-face and served up a trio of deliciously enticing matches with only one goal the difference in all three and it was the boys in amber and black who would leave with beaming smiles.
Abbey won both games starting off with the tightest of 1-0 wins over Paget and then managed to oust STM by the same margin only this time by three goals to two in a stupendous, belter-of-a-game.
Tommy More’s then had to pick themselves up and dust themselves down to take on a rested Paget but the boys in red and black put in another stirring performance. However, the Sheldon-based side once again found themselves on the wrong side of another five-goal thriller; Paget nicking the spoils, 3-2.
Hats off to Abbey then for their six point haul and for maintaining their 100% winning start to the season but kudos to both Paget and St Thomas More’s for helping to provide an outstanding evening’s entertainment; if there is a better trio of matches in the league this season to say that we would be in for the rarest of treats, would be a huge understatement.
And finally to conclude, it must be noted that all of the games were played in fantastic spirit and with sporting manner - the complete embodiment of everything the ESPSFA is all about.
