Mapledene swipe max points; Angels edge out Bernie’s.
Mapledene rose mightily to the top of the Premier division on Thursday evening after impressive wins over St Bernadette’s and Guardian Angels at the Dene Arena. Dene opened up with a 4-0 victory over Bernie’s before concluding the evening’s proceedings by defeating a hitherto unbeaten Guardian Angels, 3-0. Dene rarely looked in trouble in either game and more than enhanced their title credentials. In between Dene’s two triumphs, the Angels snuck past a battling St Bernadette’s side, 1-0 to make it two wins from two in their debut season in the ESPSFA. Mapledene then sit atop the division with a perfect twelve points from their first four games and are three points ahead of Timberley and Corpus Christi. For their part, Guardian Angels sit in fourth place, three points further back but they do have a game in hand on the trio above them.
