LG's GOLDEN GIRLS RULE AGAIN!

By Joe Perkins

Greens retain girls title. Timbers fall just short in gripping final.

Wednesday evening saw Lyndon Green's girls triumph once again, this time at GOALS, Star City and again it was Timberley on the receiving end. A tremendously tight and compelling final saw both sides giving their all. The game, and ultimately the title, was decided midway through, with The Greens shooting smartly past The Timbers 'keeper from a tight angle.
Both sides had cantered to the final and both began by winning their groups comfortably. The quarter finals then saw LG breeze past Bernies, and Timbers past Mapledene.
The semis witnessed Lyndon Green taking on a spirited Lea Forest outfit with The Wensley Road girls eventually winning 2-0, whilst Timberley were seeing off The Oval, 3-0, to set up a final against their age-old foes.
The tournament - another great success - commenced in steady rain but shortly after sunshine broke through. All the girls that took part enjoyed the tournament and the chance to represent their schools. Games were played in great spirit and the girls were a credit to their schools.
