Tuesday afternoon saw Timberley end Yardley's hopes of a play-off berth when the Shard Enders pipped the Youths, 2-1. In a tight, thrilling encounter at Harvey Road, Yardley trailed 2 nil into the second half before they pulled one back but despite late pressure, the Youths were unable to fashion an equaliser and slumped to a crushing defeat. Earlier in the evening, the Youths had been held to a 0-0 draw by a battling Lea forest outfit who defended stoutly and frustrated the hosts. Timberley then went on to complete a successful double as they narrowly edged out Lea Forest 2-1 in another close affair.
As Yardley's hopes pf a play-off spot were being dashed at Harvey Road, title chasers SS Peter and Paul were returning to the top of the pile. The Erdington-based side resoundingly defeated a youthful, experimental Blakenhale team, 15-3. Blakenhale did have some cheer though as they were awarded a 4-0 walkover win as St. Bernadette's were unable to play.
SS Peter and Paul lead the way then in what is now three-horse race for the two play-off berths on offer in La Lia. The double-saints side are level on points with Abbey who have a game in hand. Mapledene are the third team in contention just three points back and the fate of all three clubs will be decided after the Easter break.
