Thanks to a 6-0 win at Heartlands Academy on Thursday evening against Thornton, Harper Bell went to the top of the table, albeit with a one goal better goal difference than Brownmead. As Bell were dispatching the Thorns, Brownmead cruised to a 3-0 victory over Parkfield before being involved in a much tighter fixture against Rosary. The turning point in that fixture was when Rosary struck the underside of the bar from distance with the game tight at 0-0. Rosary, however, ran out of legs and 'Mead capitalised on a defensive mistake and a rebound to secure the three points.
The Oval hosted Paget and Audley and the home-side had a frustrating evening as they drew both games, dropping valuable points in the title race. Paget defended stoutly and also had their 'keeper to thank as they nullified Oval who had the lions' share of chances. Oval were then involved in an entertaining, end-to-end game against Audley. After an even first half the visitors from the Glebe upped the tempo in the second and took an early lead. Oval though, hung on in the game with a fine rear-guard action and no little help from their net-minder and with the clock ticking down they began to pin Audley back and were rewarded with an equalizer two minutes from time.
Oval now lie four points adrift of the co-leaders with all three sides having played seven games. Audley, in fourth and a further two points behind Oval will have to go some to catch that trio with fives games left of their campaign
