Dominant Dene Roll On!

Mapledene extend league lead; Stone nick win

The Mapledene Arena was the venue for the latest round of matches in La Liga and it was the hosts who made it four wins from their first four games as they defeated visitors Hillstone and Parkfield.
In the opening game, Mapledene dominated throughout but came up against some stubborn, disciplined Hillstone defending backed by some outstanding goalkeeping. Mapledene eventually broke ‘stone’s resistance and though they kept it at 1-0, they just didn’t have the fire power to eek out an equalizer.
Against Parkfield, ‘dene came out of the blocks quickly looking to press a spirited Parkfield side and strong bursts out of central caused havoc and they were ahead early on. Dene then added a scrappy second before half time and shortly after half-time they netted again and began to pepper the Parkfield goal. However, ‘dene were unable to score again and Parkfield’s effort brought a consolation goal when they hit the net from a free-kick late on. From that point on, the league leaders kept ‘field at arm’s length and ran out comfortable, 3-1 winners.
In the afternoon’s other game, Hillstone dictated against a tiring Parkfield side and it looked like it was going to be one of those games where ‘stone would be left frustrated as they missed a bundle of chances, and a penalty. However, their perseverance was rewarded as they took the spoils with a somewhat, untidy goal, not that they cared as they left for Shard End with three points in the bag.
