Yardley Youths leapt up to fourth place in the La Liga table as they took a maximum 6 points from their two games over in Nechells on Tuesday evening; the Youths lie just 3 points off SSP&P at the top and they have a game in hand.
Both Yardley and St Bernadette's trooped over to Nechells on Tuesday evening to take on each other and hosts, St Matthew's.
The Youths left with a maximum 6 points after they toppled St Matt's 6-0 and edged out Bernie's, 1-0, in a much tighter affair - a big win for Yardley, and a damaging defeat for Bernie's. Both victories delighted boss, Mr Walmsley, who had to travel without three regular first-teamers.
In the evening's other game, Bernie's took some solace from their trip as they defeated a battling St Matt's side, 4-0 and in the process took themselves to second in the table.
And the top of La Liga remains incredibly tight with just five points between Hillstone in sixth and P&P in first. It will all change again next week as Hillstone face SSP&P and in another heavyweight battle, Audley in fifth place cross swords with Abbey, in third - plus there's the small matter of the Nechells derby as E-ACT and Cromwell clash over at Maryvale.
Exciting times indeed!
