Tommy More's Fly to Group B Title!

By Joe Perkins

STM storm to summit; Hillstone, Yardley and Short Heath also make play-offs.

The final evening of the Girls league saw eight schools from Group B ascend upon Yardley 5’s, Sedgemere Road to decide which four would join St Bernadette’s, Abbey, SSPP and Paget (from Group A) in the play-off finals next month.

And it was St Thomas More’s who topped the table with twenty-five points from their nine games which included four straight victories this evening. Tommy More’s record is all the more impressive as they have conceded only one goal in their nine games, that to Yardley in a 3-1 win. Yardley themselves made the play-offs – albeit in third place – after winning four out of their six games this evening with their only defeats coming in then aforementioned game against St Thomas More and to Hillstone. 1-0. Hillstone themselves qualified for the play-offs in second place with twenty-two points and like STM, lost only once along the way. The fourth and final spot went to Short Heath as their six wins, two draws and also just one defeat, put the on twenty-one points, five clear of reigning champions, Timberley.

Full credit goes to all of the girls from all of the teams which took part this evening, all of the girls were a credit to their staff and schools – and a special mention to Parkfield’s girls who. Despite losing their five games, continued to play with smiles on their faces.

Where next?
