Timberley Girls' 6-a-side Triumph!

By Joe Perkins

Timbers edge out Lyn Green in final. Thrills and spills a-plenty as girls tournament excites.

Timbeley added yet another trophy to their cabinet following a 2-1 final victory over rivals Lyndon Green. Both teams arrived at the final in constrasting manner. LG coasted through their group, eased past Rosary in the quarter final before winning a ding-dong semi, 3-2, over The Oval. The Oval had excelled to that point and their semi defeat was a tough one. Timberley on the other hand, finished second in their group, pipped Hobmoor in their quarter final and needed an extra-time winner to see off an impressive Highfield team. The final itself was a cracking game with chances at both ends and Timberley's goalkeeper, outstanding.
Overall, the tournament was a huge success and all the girls enjoyed taking part and representing their schools.
Many thanks to all the schools that took part and to those teachers that refereed matches and organised groups.
