Paget Tighten Play-off Grip!

By Joe Perkins

Paget close in but end Bernie's hopes; Bernie's oust Barnie's in five-goal thriller

Paget took a giant leap towards securing a play-off place on Tuesday afternoon after coming out on top, 2-0, against St Bernadette's. Paget were made to work hard for their victory with Bernie's keeping them honest throughout a bustling 25 minutes. The three points moves Paget within touching distance of the play-offs whilst at the same time put an end to any ambitions Bernie's may have had of extending their season.
However, Bernie's did leave Erdington with three points of their own following a hugely entertaining 3-2 win against hosts, St Barnabas. Bernie's raced into a two-goal lead and sitting comfortably, boss Mr M-J, made changes which proved detrimental, allowing St Barnabas back into the game and they quickly levelled. Bernie's though prevailed and nicked themselves a late winner.
Paget's win guarantees that both Mapledene and Short Heath will be in the play-offs; only Hillstone can pip Paget for the remaining berth but they will have to beat the P's when they play each other next Tuesday to stand any chance.
