LG Flex Muscles in Title Hunt!

Greens close gap with 3-1 Abbey victory. 'Mead and Maples shares spoils in thriller.

Following a hard-fought 3-1 win at a wet and windy Wensley road, Lyndon Green remain in second place, consequently closing the gap on leaders Rosary This was a crucial triumph for The Greens against fellow title-chasers Abbey, leaving the Erdington side with a mountain to climb now if they are to progress to the play-off finals. LG, themselves, are now just 6 points away from Rosary and have two games in hand.
Blakesley Hall, with five games remaining - and 10 points behind Lyndon Green - can also still make that illusive second spot. They still have to play The Greens and Abbey in what is turning into an exciting race in the Baxi Boilers division.
Over in Shard End, the evening's other game saw Brownmead host Mapledene. The two sides also had to battle through the blustery, wet conditions and, in the process, played out an enthralling 3-3 draw. Brownmead took the lead, only for Mapledene to equalise on the stroke of half time. The Dene came out fighting in the second half and snatched the lead themselves, only to have it cancelled out by a superb goal. Then, with the game drawing to a close, a mazy yet powerful run saw Dene take the lead again, and with only two minutes to play. But still celebrating, Brownmead made Maple pay and got a deserved equaliser. Mapledene's point nudges them up a place - above Blakelsey Hall - to fourth, while Brownmead remain eighth.
