Tuesday evening saw just the two games played but they weren't without significance as Short Heath extended their lead at the top and Hillstone maintained hopes of nicking a top-three spot.
Hillstone welcomed both Firs and Short Heath for games at their Shard End base and opened up against the aforementioned Firs. Stone were quick about their work, dominating the game from start to finish and it paid off in a 5-0 win. However credit must be given to the Firs 'keeper who had an outstanding game, particularly in one on one situations, and managed to keep the score respectable for a large portion of the game.
Firs then had to pick themselves up to face the leaders, Short Heath but it was another one-sided contest and as Firs tired, Heath eased to a 7-0 win.
Short Heath have just one game remaining of their regular season and remain out front, six points clear of Paget, who though, have four games in hand. But just below Paget there is an almighty scramble brewing for those top three play-off places, with even Hillstone in seventh place on eleven points, in the mix. It is going to be some end to the season!
