AUDLEY AT THE DOUBLE!

By Joe Perkins

Audley's Year 5 boys and girls seal second title in a week. Valiant Timberley downed in final.

Five days on from their Year 4 Power League triumph, Audley's troupe of year 5 boys and girls were adding another trophy to the cabinet at Audley Road.
Facing Timberley in the final, the Amber and Blacks finally wore down a determined Timbers outfit, eventually running out comfortable 3-0 winners.
Audley however, did not have all their own way in the group stage and only qualified for a quarter final berth as one of the two best-placed third-placed teams - along with Rosary.
The other quarter finalists were St Bernadette's, winners of Group A, plus runners-up Lea Forest. Abbey won Group B taking maximum points along the way, with Blakenhale second, and in Group C, debut side SS Mary and John, won 4 out of 4 to win that group with Timberley as runners-up.
The quarter-finals saw Bernies smash Rosary 5-1 and SS Mary and John send Lea Forest packing, 4-1. The other two games were far closer: Audley won a ding-dong battle with Abbey, 4-3, while Timberley won a sudden-death penalty shoot-out after they and Blakenhale couldn't be separated.
Audley then pipped SS Mary and John, 3-2, in another titanic tussle, while on the adjacent pitch, Bernies and Timberley fought out a pulsating 2-2 draw - penalties ensued with Timberley winning a tense shoot-out.
The final saw Audley victorious again with coach, Mr Aksar claiming to be the ESPSFA manager of the year. In his dreams!
Audley, along with 19 other teams from across the ESPSFA, will go for a hat-trick on Thursday when we convene again at Power League for the season finale - the prestigious ESPSFA Cup.
