Tuesday evening saw the race for the play-offs heat up still further as Yardley Youths took maximum points on their shiny new 3G surface and the six points earned, takes them above Rosary into third place.
The Youths scored 8 without reply against Gossey Lane and allied that to a forfeited 4-0 win over Ward End (due to the away side's late arrival). Ward End did though grab themselves three points as they defeated a gallant Gossey Lane, 6-2.
Full credit to Gossey Lane for their tremendous effort on the back of a heavy defeat last week to SSPP. Mr Watts's charges put their bodies on the line in both games and their 'keeper made some fine saves too - hats off to Gossey!
Meanwhile in Nechells, SSPP kept their hopes of a play-off spot alive with a 2-0 win against St Matthew's. The Erdington-based side overcame the hosts in a close contest and are now just a point off third placed Yardley.
