Rosary's Derby Day Delight!

Rosarians take spoils in battle royal.

On a sublime, sunny afternoon on Thursday, Alum Rock rivals Rosary and Highfield went into battle and in a high-spirited, bruising encounter it was The Rosarians who came out on top with a battling 1-0 victory.
This was a keenly contested derby with both sides fully committed to their causes. Highfield stood firm and resolute in all departments and made Rosary huff and puff in a hurly-burly first half. Highfield created as many chances as Rosary but couldn't quite capitalize on them. The game was decided midway through the second half with Rosary number 10, Otis, netting a far post header from a well flighted Hamza corner. Tackles continued to fly in and chances came and went at either end as the game skipped on apace. However, league leaders Rosary saw it through and took all 3 vital points.
Rosary stay top having accumulated 25 points. Lyndon Green, 6 points adrift, lie in wait though and will be hoping they can usurp The Rosarians when they play both of their remaining games - against Highfield and The Oval - at Wensley Road next Thursday.
