SS Peter and Paul and Abbey scored big wins on Tuesday afternoon as the Erdington-based schools almost certainly secured play-offs berths with the La Liga title still up for grabs.
P&P concluded their campaign with a resounding 9-0 win over Brookfields which put them top of the pile on 25 points with the added bonus of plus 37 goal difference. Both Abbey and Mapledene kept close order as they both defeated a youthful Waverley outfit 9-0 and 5-0 respectively. In the process, Abbey went to 25 points with a plus 34 goal difference but crucially, they have one game left, that against Brookfields.
For their part, Mapledene, lie a further 3 points back and also have an outstanding game - against St Bernadette's. However, in order for the Maples to progress to the play-offs, there would have to be a minimum of a 16-goal swing. Stranger things have happened...
In the afternoon's other game, Lea Forest brushed past Brookfields, 6-0 to compound a disappointing brace of fixtures for the Hockley school.
