Lyndon Green emerged as Year 5 6-a-side champions on Thursday evening defeating The Rosary 3-2 in a pulsating final at the Power League Centre in Yardley. Both teams stormed out of the group phase and comfortably won their quarter finals. Their semis were tighter affairs with Rosary snatching a last kick win against an impressive Mapledene outfit whilst LG - held by Highfield for a period - eventually coming out on top. In the final Rosary led 1-0 but were pegged back and fell 2-1 down. Despite equalizing the Light Blues switched off temporarily and the Wensley Roaders took advantage smashing in a late winner. Eleven teams entered the competition and the quality of football played was excellent. The children were impeccably behaved and the tournament was a resounding success.
