Wednesday evening saw the curtain come down on the league season at Castle Vale Stadium with the league finals play-offs with St Thomas More's, Thornton, Timberley and a treble-chasing Short Heath, all arriving in hope of lifting the coveted league trophy.
The semi finals saw Short Heath breeze past Timberley, 4-0 and STM defeat Premier Division champions, Thornton to set up a mouth-watering final.
In a pulsating game which both sides gave their all, it was St Thomas More who emerged victorious by four goals to two to become ESPSFA League champions for season 2022-23. Leading 3-2 with just a couple of minutes to go, Heath went in search of an equaliser but a swift STM counter sealed victory for the Sheldon-based side.
Congratulations to STM and commiserations to Short Heath but the heathens can take solace from their two other trophy wins this season, the La Liga division and ESPSFA Cup.
