Adavntage Bernie's on Y3/4 Opening Night!

By Joe Perkins

Bernie's lead way as Y3/4 league kicks off; Abbey and Heath keep close order; Rosary and Hillstone in 6-goal thriller.

The inaugural Years 3 and 4 league began with a bang at Yardley 5’s on Monday and at the end of an enthralling and energetic evening, it’s St Bernadette’s who lead the way, three points ahead of both Abbey and Short Heath.
St Bernadette’s went unbeaten in their four matches as they narrowly came out on top against both Short Heath and St Thomas More’s, 2-1, and ended their fixture with a 3-1 win over Paget; Bernie’s were also awarded a 4-0 walkover win against Lyndon Green who could not attend.
Abbey for their part, began with a 4-0 victory versus Hillstone and then proceeded to beat St Thomas More’s, 3-0 and then Paget, 3-1. Their unbeaten run was halted in their final game as Short Heath gritted their teeth in a terrific 3-2 win. Heath had already beaten Rosary, 1-0 and Hillstone, 2-0 with their only loss on the night that 2-1 defeat to St Bernadette’s.
The rest of then table is mightily congested with Rosary and Hillstone on four points and St Thomas More and Paget, on three. Hillstone’s clash with Rosary was without doubt the most exciting game of the evening as a topsy-turvy fixture saw Rosary thinking they’d won it with thirty seconds left on the clock only to be denied by a ‘stone equaliser with just three seconds left – astonishing!
Barring Lyndon Green who have yet to play, all the other sides have played four times, the exception being St Thomas More and Rosary have both played one game less than their peers as their final game was abruptly ended with six minutes still to play and STM leading by a goal to nil – the two sides will complete the fixture the next time the Years 3 and 4 league resumes in the New Year.

Where next?

Abbey get the Winning Habit! Abbey win table-top clash; Timbers firing; STM down Farm, Dene go top in La Liga.
Tommy More’s Power On! STM plunder goals; Abbey at the double; Forest oust Heath.
