Field Finish With Flourish!

Alum Rockers 'to the four' as Maples and Youths downed. Abbey held by Hall.

Highfield completed their Baxi campaign with back-to-back on the road, 4-0 wins over Mapledene and Yardley this week. 'Field finally found the net in what has been a frustrating season for gaffer, Mr Jay. Before this week's fixtures, 'Field had netted only 5 times from 7 games but changed all that putting 'Dene and Youths to the sword.
With their Year 6s away The Maples put out a Year 5 side with a Year 4 keeper between the sticks and they came up against a spirited and determined Highfield team that was first to every loose ball. The home side, which had 4 debutants playing, lost out to a pacey and diligent Highfield, whose low league position belies their ability.
Highfield then dispatched Yardley in similar fashion and leaves the Youths anchored to the foot of the table. To avoid finishing the season there, boss, Mr Walmsley, will be hoping for a victory in their final game vs Blakesley Hall and for in-form Brownmead to topple The Oval which would send the Kitts Green outfit bottom.
Abbey, who not so long ago held realistic play-off hopes, were held by Blakesley, 1-1 at St Peter's College. On a blustery, wet, Thursday afternoon - and on a poor playing surface - both sides battled hard and served up an entertaining game with honours even at full-time. Abbey will finish 3rd unless Brownmead beat The Oval in their final game by 5 clear goals or more.
