Happy Harper Bell - Christmas Number 1!

Bell and Hillstone take maximum points in Group A, Parkfield copy that in B.

Girls from across 11 schools served up a pre-Christmas cracker of football as the curtain closed on the ESPSFA league for 2017 on Wednesday evening. And on top of the pile in Group A sit Harper Bell while in Group B Parkfield join Lea Forest at the peak.
Bell grabbed 12 points from 12 as they downed Colebourne, 7-1, Alston 4-0 and scored an impressive 3-1 victory against previously unbeaten - and free-scoring - Rosary. The Rosarians had defeated Brookfields 9-0 and E-ACT Nechells, 6-0 before falling to the league leaders; Rosary completed their evening with a 7-0 win over Alston.
League debutants, Hillstone, were also quick off the mark and took top points themselves with wins over E-ACT Nechells, Brookfields, Alston and a tight 1-0 victory against Colebourne.
Colebourne, Brookfields and Nechells did manage to secure three points for themselves, leaving Alston sadly pointless.
In Group B, Parkfield drew level on points with leaders Lea Forest. The Alum Rockers secured their points with victories over The Oval, 4-2, St Matthew's, 3-1 and Paget 3-2; a 4-0 walkover Mapledene meant they drew level at the summit, behind on goal difference.
Paget, Oval and St Matt's all had 4-0 walkovers too. The group’s remaining fixtures produced some topsy-turvy results: Paget beat Matt's, 2-0, who held the Oval to a 2-2 draw before Oval defeated Paget, 4-1 – all highly entertaining.
Girls league returns in February with those top 4 places in both groups still up for grabs.
