Blakenhale cruise through; Highfield and Rosary pip Lea Forest; Parkfield also qualify.

A scorching Thursday afternoon at Power League set the scene for the Premier division qualifying in this season’s Year 5 six-side tournament.
Having seen Yardley, St Bernadette’s, Short Heath and Audley make it to next week’s finals on Tuesday evening, it was the turn of Lea Forest, Rosary, Blakenhale, Highfield, Alston, Erdington Hall, Brookfields and Parkfield to lock horns.
Group A was intensely tight with only goal difference separating the eventual top three of Highfield, Lea Forest and Rosary B. All three teams had 3 wins apiece accompanied by one defeat; in a bizarre twist those three beat each other – Rosary B defeated Lea Forest, Lea Forest got the better of Highfield and Highfield hit 4 without reply against Rosary B.
Highfield's goal difference of +12 won the group with Rosary B's +8 surpassing Forest’s +1 to nick second place. Both Brookfields and Alston failed make to a real impact though they did play out an entertaining eight-goal thriller – 'fields winning it 5-3.
Group B was comfortably won by Blakenhale with three wins from their three games, this despite ‘hale been far from their best according to Head Coach, Mitch. Joining them in next week’s finals were group runners-up Parkfield who won two games, whilst Erdington Hall took solace from a solitary win against a disappointing Rosary ‘A’ side.
All the protagonists for next Wednesday’s finals are now known with the draw being made on Friday at 12.30pm.
