Bell and Hale Set Hot Pace!

HB and 'hale maintain 100% starts. Forest and 'dene notch up doubles.

Harper Bell continued their excellent start to the campaign with further back-to-back wins over Rosary and Paget at a sunny Hollyfields. Bell saw off a determined Rosary, 4-0, the latter side running out of steam, and then Bell edged past a dogged Paget side 3-1, who had their goalkeeper to thank for keeping them in the game with a string of fine saves, including one from the penalty spot. In the evening's opening game, Rosary beat Paget 2-0; the Saltley-siders maintaining their ‘win-one-lose-one’ results pattern.
Blakenhale remained in hot pursuit of Harper Bell after they recorded a 3-1 victory over a previously unbeaten SS Margaret Mary side, before hitting Colebourne for 6; the Coles solitary reply saw the game end 6-1. The Coles the suffered a 5-1 loss to SSMM, who in the process, held on to their third-place spot in the table.
Lea Forest joined MM on 9 points after securing their own 6-point haul in Kitts Green. The Foresters scraped a 1-0 win against Thornton before recording a 4-1 victory over Highfield. The Thorns and Highfield shared a 1-1 draw in the other game at The Forest.
At the Arena, an improved Mapledene notched up their first 6 points of the season and began with a 2-0 win over the (ESPSFA) returning Corpus Christi which included a sublime lobbed effort over the CC keeper. Thanks to a late winning goal, Erdington Hall nabbed their first 3 points of the season as a steely performance saw them edge out a battling Corpus side 1-0. Mapledene polished off a gloriously sunny evening by the airport, with a solid 3-0 win over Erd Hall; Dene up to sixth now.
The Oval welcomed Parkfield and Firs to their patch and the home-side raced into a 2-goal lead in the opening fixture against Parkfield, and with time ticking down, led 3-1. However, a resilient ‘field clawed their way back and secured a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Firs then done a similar job on Parkfield themselves, leaving it late to grab a point; the game ending 1 apiece. The final game of the evening saw Firs finally finding their shooting boots, putting 5 past The Oval. Oval struggled to get to grips with Firs expansive wing play and were well beaten, 5-1.
