ABBEY RETAIN LA LIGA CROWN!

4-2 win seals division; Yardley through to play-offs.

A 4-2 win at St Matthew's on Tuesday afternoon was enough to secure the La Liga divisional title, for a second consecutive season, for the 2016-17 ESPSFA champions, Abbey.
In sunny Nechells, the Erdington side overcame a stubborn St Matt's resistance to eventually run out 4-2 victors and so successfully defended their La Liga crown.
Abbey progress to the ESPSFA League play-offs on Wednesday 20th June where they will defend their league title, and they will be joined by Yardley, who will finish in second place in La Liga. The Youths have one remaining game to play (against Short Heath on 7th June) but are already four points ahead of third-placed SS Peter and Paul.
In the evening's other game on Tuesday, Gunter earned a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw away at hosts, Timberley.
