Hale Maintain Title Pace!

By Joe Perkins

Blakenhale stay top after win. Brownmead win and stay hot on 'hale's heels. Rosary go third after 4-point haul.

Thursday evening saw the resumption of the Premier division and it was business as usual for leaders Blakenhale.
The Garretts Green outfit maintained their unbeaten run and stayed top of the pile with a 4-0 win over a spirited Alston side. Alston fought hard throughout but were undone by 'hale's superior firepower and the league-leaders finally ran out 4-0 victors.
Hale remain two points ahead of Brownmead who enjoyed a 3-0 win over Thornton in Shard End. After a tight first half, 'mead finally broke down a stubborn, resistant Thornton side and made it five wins from five games - Mr Newman's charges laying down a marker for the remainder of the season.
Over at Stud Lane, Rosary enjoyed a 3-0 win over an enthusiastic Erdington Hall team, who were applauded for the way they have been encouraged to play football out of defence. The evening's opening game there saw Rosary and Parkfield lock horns in the Alum Rock derby - an entertaining game ending with honours even, 1-1. Rosary rise to third place in the table but have played a number of games more than those sides around them.
In the evening's other game at the Lane, Parkfield grabbed three points for themselves but needed a goal 30 seconds from time to defeat a committed Erdington Hall, 2-1.
