Double-Bubble Audley!

By Joe Perkins

Audley open with max points as Rosary go back top; LG win again.

Audley belatedly began their campaign with two wins out of two on a cool autumnal afternoon. In their opening game they defeated - previously undefeated - Rosary, by 2 goals to nil. Audley, spurred on by a strong midfield, dominated for most of the game and restricted Rosary to only one shot on target. The Black and Ambers then took on league newcomers, Paget, and dispatched the Pype Hayes-based side, 6-0. It would have been more had it not been for some excellent goal-keeping from Paget's number 1. In the evening's final game - just beating the darkening skies - Rosary beat a much better Paget, 2-0. It took the Saltley side until late into the second half to break down a stubborn, more resistant, Paget, whose improved performance bodes well for the remainder of the season. Rosary, for their part, returned to the top of the table.
Over at Wensley Road, Lyndon Green joined Rosary on 9 points at the summit - separated only by goal difference - and the champions were involved a right old tussle with another league debutant side, Slade. The Greens, leading 2-1 at half-time, hung on in a tight second half to take the spoils with Slade leaving South Yardley will full credit for their display.
