Dene Win But Fall Short in Play-off Bid.

Goal difference denies Maples play-off spot.

Despite defeating St. Bernadette's 2-1, on a glorious afternoon at The Arena, and finishing on 25 points alongside Abbey and P&P, Mapledene's inferior goal difference meant the Sheldon-based side missed out on a coveted play-off berth. In a tight, game high in quality, and fiercely contested, 'Dene nudged past Bernies to end their campaign on a high but it was tempered by them narrowly missing out in the race for the play-offs. Two excellently taken and supremely composed finishes, sealed the deal for 'Dene. Bernies goal came after superb footwork, combined with a mazey run, led to a cool finish under 'Dene's 'keeper.
Maples boss, Mr Collett, commented after the game, "We are disappointed to be missing out on Goal difference only. We have had an excellent season but needed the teams below us to help us out against the Abbey and P&P."
The only remaining issue in La Liga is who finishes top and runners-up - this will be determined next week when Abbey face Brookfields in their final game of the season.
