Champs Held at Yardley!

By Joe Perkins

Yardley fight back to earn point but LG still jump to second. Yenton win again and Maples complete miserable night for Colebourne.

In a pulsating game at Yardley on Tuesday evening, The Yards fought back to take a point off the reigning champions and title-chasers, Lyndon Green. The result deprived the Wensley Roaders of two valuable points in the title race. Trailing 1-0 at half-time, Yardley grabbed a second-half equaliser and no doubt that goal would have been cheered by Timeberley too.
Lyn Green do move up to second however, as in addition to their Yardley point, a 4-0 walkover win (as Audley falied to make their fixtures that evening) gifted the three more. Yardley were also awarded a 4-0 win over Audley. Yardley move up to the dizzying heights of eighth place in the table.
In other games played on Tuesday, Colebourne failed to build on their comeback win over Lea Forest last week losing 3-2 to Mapledene, then 2-1 to Yenton. The 'Ton' move up to 10th and The Maples to 12th in the table. Colebourne remain in 16th place.
